Qichao Hu PhD is the Founder and CEO of SES, which recently entered into a definitive merger agreement with Ivanhoe Acquisition Corp (NYSE: IVAN). SES is the world leader in development and manufacturing of high-performance Li-Metal batteries for automotive and transportation applications. Founded in 2012, SES is an integrated Li-Metal battery manufacturer with strong capabilities in material, cell, module, AI-powered safety algorithms, and recycling. Today SES is backed by leading global automakers including General Motors, Hyundai, Geely and Shanghai Auto, and financial investors including SK, LG, Koch, Temasek, and Foxconn. SES is headquartered in Singapore with operations in Boston, Shanghai and Seoul. Prior to SES, Qichao received his PhD in Applied Physics from Harvard in 2012 and BS in Physics from MIT in 2007. During his PhD at Harvard, he was fired twice for failure to publish, and went to MIT to pursue more practical EV battery technology development. He founded SolidEnergy on the backdrop of the biggest bankruptcy in American battery industry, A123.
